Drawing is my happy place

Whether it’s an Apple Pencil or the humble #2, I usually have some type of drawing implement in my hand. In my experience, drawing is the fastest way to capture ideas and iterate on a visual design. In my personal life, it’s a way to express my creativity and work towards the goal of drawing a graphic novel. Either way, drawing is an indispensable part of my life.

I started skating again

Am I good at skateboarding? No. Do I love it? Absolutely. It started when I tried to use YouTube to show my son how to use his new skateboard. My plan backfired. I got hooked while my son’s skateboard is collecting dust. On plus side, I’ve been reminded of the value of activities that test your determination, patience and commitment (much like developing good creative work). I also find a lot of inspiration in the art, fashion and creativity that accompanies the sport. So maybe it’s a win after all.

Wild places keep me tame

I don’t think you can put a price tag on the value of being outside, in the moment and connected with something bigger than yourself. It’s a powerful feeling and one of my favorite ways to recharge. Additionally, it’s an amazing source of inspiration.
